Five of the leading Democratic candidates for New York City mayor met on the debate stage Thursday night at the CBS Broadcast Center. WCBS reporter Marcia Kramer asked the candidates if they think guns should be taken away from police, and four of the candidates said no, with Maya Wiley said she was "not prepared" to answer that question at a debate.

Senate could extend LGBTQ+ protections with the Equality Act

As the sixth anniversary of same-sex marriage legalization approaches, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer says the Senate could vote on the Equality Act this month. The legislation would extend legal protections for the LGBTQ+ community under the Civil Rights Act of 1964. In addition to the Equality Act, Senate Democrats are hoping to push forward with voting rights reform. CBS News political reporter Grace Segers joins CBSN's "Red and Blue" host Elaine Quijano to discuss.

NYC Democratic mayoral candidates address recent report on Eric Adams

Five of the leading Democratic candidates in the New York City mayoral race met for the third debate Thursday night. Frontrunner Eric Adams had said earlier this week that he wouldn't participate, but reversed course, despite a recent report that raised questions about where he lived. "This is silly. I live in Bed-Stuy, I am a Brooklynite," Adams said in response to the report. Watch their remarks.
