Global private equity firms eye $1 billion bid for Bharat Serums and vaccines

Five global private equity firms, including Warburg Pincus, Permira, EQT, Bain, and TPG, are interested in bidding for Bharat Serums and Vaccines (BSV), which is seeking over $1 billion. The firms will sign expressions of interest soon and start due diligence on the Mumbai-based biopharmaceutical company. Advent International, the current owner, acquired BSV in 2019 and now wants to sell it. Some contenders may partner with pharmaceutical companies for the bid. DoT rejects telcos' proposal for refunds on spectrum surrender

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has rejected a proposal from telecom firms to offer refunds for part or full payments in case of spectrum surrender. Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII) is prepared to increase production of injectable poliomyelitis vaccine (IPV) to fill the gap left by France's Sanofi closing its manufacturing plants in India. SII currently supplies half of the 20 million IPV doses to the government's immunization program and can provide additional doses with a 3-4 month notice. Adar Poonawalla, SII CEO, stated that supplying IPV to the government at current prices is unviable for most companies, but SII continues to do so as a service to the nation.

2 Pakistanis among 3 terrorists arrested from Nepal border
