French data protection authority CNIL on Monday announced it rejected Google's appeal to its formal notice, meaning it may continue to prepare a fine. CNIL wants Google to apply the 'right to be forgotten' from Google Search results on all its domains, not only the European versions.

EU internal market commissioner Elzbieta Bienkowska told Dutch newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad that the EU's internal market is not functioning properly. "The internal market has become more fragmented than ever, because of new national rules and laws", she was quoted as saying.

Russian president Vladimir Putin backed plans over the weekend to build a Russian military airbase in neighbouring Belarus, reports Reuters. Defense officials say the base will host Su-27 fighters. The plans are expected to move ahead without difficulty. Russia has also boosted its military presence in Syria.

The UK's former deputy prime minister Nick Clegg has said a vote to leave the EU would see Scotland leave the UK, reports the Guardian. "Not just one, but two, unions now hang in the balance", he said. The UK referendum to leave the EU will take place in 2017.
