Hungary's lawmakers have approved a constitutional amendment granting the government extraordinary powers in case of terror acts or threats. It allows the government to ramp up surveillance and deploy armed forces by declaring a "terrorism state of emergency" with lawmakers approval. The government can use the measures for up to 15 days. The bill, which passed Tuesday with support from far-right Jobbik, is a watered-down version of an earlier proposal.
