Ash Trees 0 Robins 5
Sometimes you can sugar coat the pill, but not today.
One of our supporters from our first spell in the Combined Counties in the 90's came up from Bournemouth to pay his respects to Dave Baker, and Eric gave permission for me to say he thought we were rubbish and he couldn't remember us playing that badly in our early senior days.
We missed good chances to take the lead and then equalise and paid dearly. In the 9th minute, Bitz was put through but didn't shoot first time and his eventual shot from a tight angle was cleared off the line by a tracking defender. Two minutes later Joe Grant hit a low curler from the edge of the box into the far corner past an unsighted Brannon Daly, our fourth keeper of the campaign already - Tyler broke a hand in last Saturday's game and will miss up to eight weeks. Bracknell were probably a bit unlucky to go in just 1-0 up.
We started the second half brightly and, in the 48th minute, the ball reached Nebay at the back of the box and, with half an empty goal, his snapshot missed the target. Two minutes later, a long kick from Robins keeper Scott Hack found sub Gavin James who went though like a knife through butter for 2-0. That was the first of four goals in 20 minutes as we allowed Grant to score a hat-trick and then Liam Ferdinand to get the fifth. The goals were well taken but we made it easy for them.
I dread to think what poor Dave Baker's reaction would have been.
