Salomon Releases New Line of Mary Jane Sneakers for Spring
The shoes retail for $150 and are available now.
Salomon has released the RX Marie-Jeanne, the brand’s take on a classic Mary Jane shoe. The style comes in three colorways, “Black,” “Vanilla” and “Ghost Grey,” and has an overall minimalistic design. The RX Marie-Jeanne, designed to be a monochromatic and comfortable sneaker with the detailing of a Mary Jane shoe, is the embodiment of function meets fashion.
Marketed as unisex sportswear, the RX Marie-Jeanne sneaker merges recent fashion trends with technical recovery footwear. The shoe may not resemble a typical Mary Jane in its body, which is shaped like a sneaker and made from rubber with a mesh upper, but the rounded toe and strap across the vamp emulate that classic silhouette. Salomon, being a brand focused primarily on outdoor sports, has merged their comfortable designs with a fashionable, wearable look.
While Mary Jane shoes are both a classic in women’s footwear and a wardrobe addition growing in popularity, new, creative takes on the Mary Jane shoe are extremely trendy right now. This year, Mikio Sakabe put out a range of platform bubble-detailed takes on the shoe and Marc Jacobs featured an exaggerated Mary Jane heel in their 2024 spring runway presentation. The Mary Jane shoe has not just made its way back into the zeitgeist of fashion, but overtaken it in 2024.
Salomon’s RX Marie-Jeanne is another of these reimaginings, adding a comfortable sportswear edition to the long list of Mary Jane shoes on the market, designed for everyday wear over the runway.
The RX Marie-Jeannes retail for $150 and are available now on Salomon.com.
