Green was not only upset at Simmons’s comments, he also wanted the NBA to take notice that someone who shares this kind of opinion shouldn’t have a vote on NBA honors like the All-Rookie teams. Honors like MVP and Defensive Player of the Year can impact contract stipulations for players, and these awards are voted on by the media. “How is it that this guy has a voice in deciding if Jalen Green will qualify for a super max deal?” Green wrote on Instagram. Lloyd Pierce was fired last season because he lost the locker room, and mainly Young. One source was asked after Tuesday’s Game 5 loss if McMillan had support in the locker room this season and if he felt like the players believed in their coach; he just laughed. As of a few days ago, McMillan’s job security was not in question. The manner in which the Hawks lost could change opinions, but that remains unclear right now. This series was another reminder, though, of McMillan’s lack of playoff success. Читать дальше...
Per sources, the Pistons want to sign Marvin Bagley to a multiyear deal. They don’t just want him locked up for a season. A three-year deal is what Detroit would like to get done. This is really where the only hurdle could present itself. Bagley, given that he is young and talented offensively, could be more inclined to seek a shorter deal in order to test the open market sooner and grab a bigger payday, assuming all goes well over the next season or two. However, Bagley likes the Pistons, and the Pistons like him... Читать дальше...

New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram came to Tuesday night’s postgame news conference with his right ring and pinkie fingers taped up in black athletic tape, but he insisted he’ll be good to go for Game 6 on Thursday. “It’s fine,” Ingram said following the Pelicans’ 112-97 loss to the Phoenix Suns. “It got a little banged up during the game, but I’ll be all right.”

Durant cited the Celtics’ size as an issue in the first-round series, making that a clear need for Brooklyn along with more hard-nosed, rugged players on the wing. As far as the status of the team’s front office and Nash, there are no signs that either is in jeopardy. By all accounts, Nash has maintained the support of the Nets’ front office as well as Durant’s. Читать дальше...

A source close to Simmons told me he’s going through it right now mentally, but Ben will be back next season. The source I spoke to was very confident in that. Another source I spoke to said the Nets have been supportive at every turn, and it’s different comparatively than when Ben was in Philadelphia.

Victor Oladipo scored 23 points, Bam Adebayo added 20 points and 11 rebounds, and the Heat moved into Round 2 of the playoffs by eliminating Young and the Atlanta Hawks 97-94 on Tuesday night. “The biggest thing about this game was our defense,” Adebayo said.
