Just a few hours before Game 3, the NBA world was rocked by the news that the Phoenix Suns might move on from point guard Chris Paul this offseason; he might get waived, stretched, or traded. If the Suns do move Paul, sources around the NBA are whispering about three potential destinations: the Clippers, the Lakers, and the Spurs.

Marc Stein: If they waive and stretch Chris Paul, they would then have full access to the mid-level exception of 12-plus million. But if you waive and stretch Chris Paul, you can’t re-sign him. So they would just have to outright waive him. If they wanted to bring him back, they would have to hope that he’d be willing to come for the minimum. And at that point, why wouldn’t Chris Paul sign with the Lakers or someone else in free agency that didn’t just waive him to three days before? Chris Haynes: And I think that’s an option when they waive him, not the waiver stress provision, I think that is an option to waive it and to see if he’ll be willing to re-sign back at a lower number. I just don’t know. I haven’t spoken to Chris yet. But I don’t know if he will be willing to do that.
