1. I keep wondering if Miami can get Holiday and keep Herro. If so-are they at least even w the Bucks? I think so. – 12:49 PM

Countdown to camp: What’s the point? In the wake of Lillard loss, is there a Heat Plan B to salvage? sun-sentinel.com/2023/09/28/cou… Lowry? Herro? Butler or Adebayo as the primary handlers? – 12:27 PM

The Heat wanted to offer Tyler Herro, Nikola Jovic, 3 first-round picks, first-round pick swaps and multiple second-round picks for Damian Lillard, but Portland had no interest, per @ShamsCharania. pic.twitter.com/pPV6zNYtA6 – 10:13 AM

I like Tyler Herro, and he’s a good player.
There is no circumstance where he would return more for the Blazers right now in a trade than Jrue Holiday will return. And I’d much rather bet on 2028-2030 Milwaukee draft picks being valuable than 2028-2030 Miami picks. – 10:50 PM

Apparently someone made Jimmy Butler believe that Tyler Herro was enough to land Lillard. Hmmm. #NBA – 7:11 PM

I’m interested to see how this Tyler Herro situation plays out in Miami.
The Heat have been openly shopping him for a while now. Part of the business, but he can’t be thrilled with how this has played out. – 5:33 PM

Yes, we should “fire Pat Riley and the Heat front office” even though it’s crystal clear Cronin/Portland were the ones unwilling to make it work and…gee I don’t know, built a team (minus Herro) just 3 wins away from being the NBA CHAMPS a few months ago??? – 5:05 PM

I’m bewildered at what Portland ultimately got for Lillard that is apparently SO much better than what Miami offered but then again, it’s going to be fun to see a more experienced Jovic and a compelling rookie in JJJ compliment Butler, Bam and a very motivated Herro. – 4:49 PM

Even if Blazers HYPOTHETICALLY took Lowry’s expiring, Jovic & 1sts for Holiday,re-signing him next summer (while keeping Jimmy/Bam/Duncan/Herro/Jovic/Jaquez re-signing Caleb),Miami would be tax team in 2024-25 &would have to worry about 2nd apron.(Like with Beal). So there’s that – 3:37 PM

Heat fans will hate this, but it’s a better deal for Portland. They don’t need Herro (who clearly isn’t easy to flip, since Miami couldn’t find a 3rd team). Ayton is a young big with talent. Jrue will get them a pick/picks. That unprotected 2029 for Milwaukee is valuable. AK – 2:27 PM

Jrue Holiday, even with his contract up, will draw an enormous return to the #TrailBlazers. Creative way to get extra picks from a #Bucks deal where Milwaukee was limited in the number it could give up. They couldn’t do that with Tyler Herro. – 2:25 PM

This is why I would have jumped on chance for Beal for peanuts, as I said in July. Gamble of waiting ultimately didn’t pay off for Heat. Hope now is that Jovic/Jaquez become really good; Herro takes another step; Duncan is vintage Duncan; Caleb is mostly Eastern Finals Caleb. – 2:24 PM

The Heat are left standing at the altar, though they and the Blazers may have never even arrived at the chapel. The two sides appear to have had no meaningful dialogue — and maybe none at all — since late July, per league sources. The Blazers had no major interest in any individual Miami player or draft asset, and limited interest in whatever combination Miami might cobble. The two sides were far apart in initial talks, sources said. The Heat were reluctant to toss in every player and pick and swap the Blazers may have wanted in the end — some or all of Tyler Herro, Nikola Jovic, Caleb Martin, Jaime Jaquez Jr., filler salary, multiple picks, multiple swaps. -via ESPN / September 28, 2023
For their part, the Heat were prepared in July and August to offer up to three first-round draft picks — with Tyler Herro going to a third team — and multiple second-rounders and swaps along with expiring contracts and 2022 first-round pick Nikola Jović, per league sources. But the Blazers were disinterested, with each side developing a level of contentiousness. -via The Athletic / September 28, 2023
