Tobias Harris on not making an All-Star team: I think after the first one, where I thought I should've made it, I kind of said, 'F it'
You’ve made over $211 million in your career, but one accolade missing from your resume is an All-Star selection. How do you feel about that? Tobias Harris: I think I’ve made the case a few years to be there (an All-Star). It’s something that, as a player, you strive to get. I think after the first one, where I thought I should’ve made it, I kind of said, “F it.” There are 12 guys that make it, and it’s a tough thing to get into. A lot of it has to do with team success as well. I just let that be my fuel of being on a team that’s No. 1 or 2 in the East or when I was in the West.

More on this storyline
What are your expectations for Tyrese Maxey this year? Tobias Harris: I think he’s an All-Star. I think he’s going to show people his playmaking ability as well. I think he’s such a great shot-maker and somebody who makes tough shots. It’s impressive, especially with the threes he makes off the bounce, and to be able to shoot it at a high clip. I think we’re going to see a big leap for him this year. -via HoopsHype / October 17, 2023
Regarding James Harden, do you guys try to tell him we’d still love to play with you and build off last season, or do you guys not get involved? Tobias Harris: Nah. I think nobody has any ill will or hard feelings on that situation. We’re just taking it day by day and seeing where it goes. What are fair expectations for the 76ers this season? Tobias Harris: As a collective group, we expect to win every opportunity we go out on the floor. We’ll see where that leads us, but we also know we have a lot of work to do. As a team that went to the second round last year and lost a seven-game series in Game 7, we want to be back in that spot and change the narrative. -via HoopsHype / October 17, 2023
Tobias Harris on free agency: “You can go on teams and put up numbers, or you can be on teams that actually have a shot to make a championship run” Entering a contract year, how do you approach it? Tobias Harris: Control what I can control. That’s coming in every day, being a professional coming to work, and perfecting my craft. This is my 13th season in the NBA. One thing I tell all the young guys in here is it’s about winning. It’s about figuring out ways to be the best team. You can go on teams and put up numbers, or you can be on teams that actually have a shot to make a championship run. For me, it’s about being in this situation right now and figuring out the best ways possible for us to win as many games as we can. -via HoopsHype / October 17, 2023
