That was confusing. Middleton’s floater cut the Knicks’ lead to six points with 35.5 seconds left.
And then they didn’t foul for the first 17 seconds of the possession. Eventually, Middleton fouled Randle and he hit both free throws.

Jalen Brunson, Julius Randle & RJ Barrett have a combined 50 pts on 21-for-40 shooting (5-for-11 3PT) in 1st half vs. MIL. Bucks shooting 40% & (6-for-22 3PT) after torching NYK from deep in previous 3 games. NYK seems loose; after missing tough shot at halftime buzzer, Randle… – 1:16 PM

You might see Julius Randle and Bobby Portis matched up today. As Randle explained Saturday, the former Knick teammates have been competing against one another since HS. Randle said with a smile that Portis is maybe one of the few guys who isn’t scared to be physical with him: pic.twitter.com/EaEElPgm5a – 12:36 PM

Jalen Brunson is absolutely cooking Damian Lillard right now — but the Bucks are up 13.
The same thing happened in the last game in Milwaukee: Julius Randle erupted for 41, but the Knicks lost by 20+ – 2:24 PM

Knicks out of challenges now after really wasting their last one. Randle clearly turned into a set Jackson Jr. with his elbow extended right in front of Knicks bench. Some coach had to realize that wasn’t worth the attempt. – 2:19 PM

Julius Randle going back and forth with Bobby Portis. This has gotten a little personal.
As a side note: Portis and Randle were signed in the same summer by the Knicks to play the same position. – 1:16 PM

Julius Randle just went up Bobby Portis’ chest, got the and one, then flexed/shrugged his shoulders while trash talking Portis for several seconds. Unhinged. – 1:15 PM

More on this storyline
While sharing a Garden court with Lillard, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Julius Randle, Brunson was the best player of a marquee matchup. Not even his closest friends were envisioning this in college. “I always knew he put the work in to be successful. But, even me, I didn’t know how it would translate to the NBA style,” Josh Hart said. “But s–t, when did I know? Probably like three years ago when he started doing it.” -via New York Post / December 26, 2023
After losing their first six games of the season against the Bucks and Celtics – three against each – the Knicks defeated the Bucks, 129-122, at Madison Square Garden in a Christmas Day matinee. It was a satisfying, nationally-televised result, especially after a 130-111 loss to the same team on the same floor on Saturday. Jalen Brunson led the Knicks (17-12) with 38 points and Julius Randle scored 24. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 32 points for Milwaukee (22-8). Damian Lillard also had 32. -via Newsday / December 25, 2023
Portis, who has been on a tear for a couple weeks, is pumped for the Knicks rematch on Christmas afternoon. “It’s one of those things on a yearly basis, you watch all your favorites — the Kobe Bryants of the world, the Kevin Garnetts of the world, the LeBron James of the world,” Portis said. “And to be able to play on Christmas at the Garden, the Mecca of basketball, I’m excited.” Randle, a physical force, also played well offensively Saturday while scoring 26 points but was killed on the glass. He and Portis were teammates in New York for a season after both were signed during the 2019 free agency. It was a poor fit because they played the same position and Portis later labeled it “the most miserable season of my career.” -via New York Post / December 25, 2023
