“I know if I keep going I’m gonna get paid, but that’s not the main thing right now,” Hartenstein said. “The main thing is, I wanna play good for New York and then everything after will kinda take care of itself.”

The midlevel exception projects to be approximately $56 million over four years, starting in 2024-25. He has no idea how they happened or who is responsible for his gashes. Midgame adrenaline doesn’t allow Hartenstein to feel the scrapes when they occur. “Every time I go to the bench, it’s kinda like, ‘Isaiah, you’re bleeding again,’ ” Hartenstein said. “I play hard. It’s gonna come with it. I don’t care if I’m bleeding.” He said it all through a recently sewn upper lip that is healing nicely after he received a palm to the face a couple of weeks ago. Julius Randle and Jalen Brunson took care of things on the scoreboard while Isaiah Hartenstein brilliantly manned the interior as Knicks stayed unbeaten in the OG Anunoby era to the tune of a 116-100 victory over the Chicago Bulls. Randle (35) and Burnson (31) each scored at least 30 points for the first time this season with the latter pairing his tally with 13 assists.
