Tulsa man steals from Walmart, gets hit by car 2 hours later, police say
The Tulsa Police Department arrested a man on Monday for allegedly assaulting multiple Walmart employees after trying to steal from the store.
TULSA, Okla. (KFOR) - The Tulsa Police Department arrested a man on Monday for allegedly assaulting multiple Walmart employees after trying to steal from the store.
According to Tulsa PD, officers responded to the Walmart near Admiral and Memorial around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 29, regarding an assault on an employee.
Staff told police that the suspect, Michael Grant, left the store pushing a cart with more than $1,000 worth of merchandise. As employees attempted to stop him, he allegedly assaulted three of them before running off.
About two hours later, around 5:30 p.m., police say officers responded to an auto-pedestrian accident near Admiral and Memorial after a pedestrian reportedly ran into the street from behind a stopped truck and was hit by a Chrysler.
Upon arrival, officers recognized the victim as Grant. He was taken to a nearby hospital and was not placed under arrest until Monday, March 11, after an arrest warrant was issued.
According to police, Grant was charged with:
- Larceny of Merchandise from a Retailer
- Assault & Battery
- Drug Possession
