One injured in Edmond house fire
Fire crews battled a house fire in Edmond Thursday morning.
EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR) - Fire crews battled a house fire in Edmond Thursday morning.
According to the Edmond Fire Department, crews responded to a home near E 33rd St. and Bryant Ave. around 2:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a resident and their pet who were able to escape the fire. The resident was taken to a nearby hospital for smoke inhalation.
Fire officials say the fire started at the back of the house and spread to the attic. They are also stressing the importance of having working smoke detectors.
"We're here at 2:20 in the morning and it's important to have your smoke detectors working," said Deputy Chief Chris Denton with Edmond Fire. "Folks are asleep at nighttime, so check your smoke detectors and make sure your kids know how to get out safely."
Firefighter were able to knock down the fire and assess smoke and water damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
