WASHINGTON (KFOR) — An Oklahoma City pastor—who went from prison to the pulpit—was honored by the FBI in Washington D.C. over the weekend.
Pastor Thaddeus Black received the prestigious Director's Community Leadership Award (DCLA) from FBI Director Christopher Wray.
The DCLA was created in 1990 to honor those who have made notable contributions to strengthening communities and reducing crime and violence. Field offices select recipients annually on behalf of the FBI Director.
News 4 previously shared his story in December 2022. Black currently serves as a pastor at Tulakes Community Church in Bethany, but before that he was a drug dealer who spent 11 years in federal prison after being arrested by the FBI.
After leaving prison, Black became a pastor and dedicated his life to keeping young kids across the metro from making the same mistakes.
