A strong front delivers a cold weekend, stormy with heavy rainfall next week
We'll enjoy one warm day for today as highs climb into the upper 60s this afternoon. This is due to warm-up being tugged northward by an approaching Arctic front. This front will not be as strong as its predecessor, but it will deliver some cold air just in time for the weekend.
Highs tomorrow will be 20 degrees cooler than today, only climbing into the upper 40s. It may be a good idea not to unwrap those pipes yet because we could see lows in the mid-upper 20s on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. Highs will remain in the 40s through Sunday and Monday.
A quick warming trend next week as an upper-level trough approaches the area and the subtropical jet stream gets active again. A prolonged heavier rainfall signal showing up on the long-range models as multiple waves of energy move across the area Monday through Friday of next week. Rainfall totals could be high over the five days, possibly in the 4-8 inch range, and this could pose a flooding threat.
We'll analyze this and have more details as the timeframe gets closer.
