String of vehicle burglaries in Acadia Parish leads to multiple arrests
CROWLEY, La. (KLFY) – Two Church Point residents were arrested after a string of vehicle burglaries in early January.
According to the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies have made several arrests in connection to vehicle burglaries and thefts in the eastern portion of Acadia Parish.
In early January, property was stolen from multiple unlocked vehicles in the rural area near Church Point. An additional vehicle was stolen, as the keys remained inside of the vehicle.
During the investigation, the stolen vehicle was recovered in Lafayette Parish and a suspect was arrested. Through the investigation, an additional suspect was identified. Some of the stolen property was recovered. It was also learned that one of the suspects used stolen debit cards to make purchases.
James Meche Jr., 41 and Angelica McGuffin, 31, both of Church Point were arrested. Both were charged with 5 counts of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle. Meche was also charged with 4 counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felo, while McGuffin was charged with also charged with 1 counts of identity theft.
