Church Point man arrested on attempted murder charges
A Church Point man faces charges of attempted murder for an alleged retaliation shooting.
CHURCH POINT, La. (KLFY) – A Church Point man faces charges of attempted murder for an alleged retaliation shooting.
According to the Church Point Police Department, an officer was in the area of E. Minnex Alley, looking into an earlier call of shots being fired, when he heard several rounds of gunfire near his location. The officer saw the shooter firing and was able to chase down and apprehend the shooter. During the foot chase, the suspect threw away the firearm, along with the mask and gloves he was wearing, which officers were able to find.
During an investigation, the suspect claimed it was retaliation for an earlier evening shooting. A residence was hit by a single round where several occupants were in the home.
The suspect, Jhyrin Jaquon Moore, 22 of Church Point, was arrested and booked into the Church Point Police Department. Moore was charged with the following:
- Attempted 2nd degree murder
- Convicted felon in possession of a firearm
- Illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities
- Criminal damage to property
Moore was later transported to the Acadia Parish Jail to await bond.
The investigation is ongoing. More charges and arrests are pending.
