Lake Charles student arrested for having gun at school
A 15-year-old student in Lake Charles was arrested for carrying a gun at school.
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KLFY) – A 15-year-old student in Lake Charles was arrested for carrying a gun at school.
According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, school resource officers at Molo Middle School in Lake Charles were notified around 8:20 a.m. Friday morning about a student who may be in possession of a handgun.
An investigation found a gun, with one round in the chamber, was located in the 15-year-old student’s backpack. Further investigation revealed that the student did not make threats regarding the gun.
The teen was arrested and charged with illegal carrying of a firearm in a school zone and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile. He was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center. The Calcasieu Parish School Board assisted with the investigation.
