Cybertip leads to prison time for Lake Charles man for possession of child porn
A Lake Charles man will serve prison time thanks to a cybertip, authorities said.
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KLFY) -- A Lake Charles man will serve prison time thanks to a cybertip, authorities said.
Arthur Dorain Deville, 50, of Lake Charles, has been sentenced to 51 months in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release. Deville pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography on Aug. 16.
In 2022, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a cybertip from Dropbox, Inc. in reference to images containing child sexual abuse material being uploaded to one of their accounts. An investigation by agents with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation revealed that the Dropbox account belonged to Deville.
On Oct. 26, 2022, Deville admitted to agents with LBI and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations that the Dropbox account belonged to him, and he was the only person with access to the account. Deville also confessed to possessing the material maintained in the Dropbox account. An analysis of the deleted files in Deville’s account contained pornography involving minor children not having reached the age of puberty.
This case was part of Project Safe Childhood, a U.S. Department of Justice nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood combines federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
