Opelousas High Football loses appeal, must forfeit all games in 2023 including State Championship
The LHSAA found the initial ruling to force OHS to forfeit all their wins in 2023 and the 2023 D2 Non-Select State Championship was the correct decision.
OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- A story we've been follow regarding high school football and the Opelousas High Tigers came to a head Thursday night.
Opelousas High learned the fate of their appeal Thursday: The LHSAA denied it.
The LHSAA found the initial ruling to force OHS to forfeit all their wins in 2023 and the 2023 D2 Non-Select State Championship was the correct decision.
Back in Feburary, the LHSAA released the findings of an investigation revealing the Tigers used an illegal player and had committed other violations.
As a part of the penalties, OHS Head Coach Jimmy Zachery must serve a one-season suspension.
The next move for Opelousas, should they choose, is to appeal this latest ruling to an arbitrator. The decision of the arbitrator will be final.
