Opelousas registered sex offender convicted for possession of stolen firearm
Simms' sentence date is set for April 11.
ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY)-- An Opelousas registered sex offender was convicted Tuesday for felon in possession of a firearm, according to St. Landry Parish District Attorney Chad P. Pitre.
After receiving a tip and locating him using his ankle monitor, authorities discovered Elliot Simms, 44, with a stolen handgun.
Simms was previously charged with indecent behavior with a juvenile. He was released in 2018, according to Pitre.
Simms' sentence date is set for April 11.
