President Biden to meet privately with Brown v. Board family, plaintiffs
TOPEKA (KSNT) - On Thursday, a White House official announced President Joe Biden will visit with Brown v. Board plaintiffs and family members.
The meeting will include two original plaintiffs from two of the five cases that were consolidated into Brown v. Board. The plaintiffs and family members will meet at the White House.
According to the White House, the meeting is part of Biden's plan to engage with the black community.
On Friday, Biden will speak at the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C. He will meet with leaders from the Black Divine Nine fraternities and sororities and speak at Morehouse College on Sunday.
The delegation represents litigants from the five cases that were combined under Brown v. Board of Education and heard before the Supreme Court, as well as NAACP President Derrick Johnson and other leaders of the NAACP who were critical in fighting for these and other hard-won freedoms for Black Americans.
