Deadly multi-vehicle crash closes I-35 northbound in Buda Friday morning
Part of Interstate 35 northbound in Buda was shut down early Friday morning after a deadly crash involving four vehicles.
BUDA, Texas (KXAN) -- Part of Interstate 35 northbound in Buda was shut down early Friday morning after a deadly crash involving four vehicles.
The Buda Police Department said the interstate was shut down near exit 220/Main Street. The department posted about the incident on social media at 4:31 a.m.
According to BPD, four vehicles, including a semi-truck, were involved in the crash.
Police said the crash was caused by a driver going the wrong way. It's unclear how many people were killed or injured in the crash.
Police asked drivers to use alternate routes and plan for delays.
The department said the earliest the interstate could reopen is around 9:30 a.m.
The majority of 911 services in Hays County went out Thursday evening because of a line cut, according to the sheriff's office, but Buda Police said that did not affect the response time to the crash Friday morning. Buda Police Community Affairs Officer, Freddy Erdman, said 911 being down is not affecting calls for assistance or receiving services.
