The City of Austin launched a survey aimed at seeking the community's input on the next city manager.
AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The City of Austin launched a survey aimed at seeking the community's input on the next city manager.
On Friday, the city said in a news release that the three-question survey will close Feb. 16. Furthermore, the survey is offered to the community in English and Spanish.
The person who takes on the role is in charge of the budget, as well as city staff, the release said.
Around this time last year, Austin City Council voted to fire former city manager Spencer Cronk after the city's response to the 2023 winter storm and challenging negotiations with the Austin Police Association on a new police contract. City council later appointed Jesús Garza as interim city manager.
Mayor Kirk Watson said a list of candidates should be available around March for city council to help narrow down finalists.
The goal is to hire someone by mid-April, according to the city.
