AUSTIN (KXAN) — In a recently published article, USA TODAY said an Austin location was selected for its list of 2024 restaurants of the year. The Austin restaurant was also the only Texas restaurant chosen.
According to the list, Mum Foods Smokehouse and Delicatessen has been drawing lines for more than 10 years, beginning with local Farmer's Markets. Mum Foods has since established a permanent location off Manor Road.
“Our local food writer recommends the brisket, ribs and sausage that make Mum one of the best barbecue joints in the city,” USA TODAY said.
Mum Foods is open Wednesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. until it is sold out, which is typically around 3 p.m., according to the restaurant.
“Honorees, including Austin’s Mum Foods, were hand-selected by a cohort of local dining reporters across the network - on a national level and reporters who are embedded in their local communities. The list encompasses award-winning restaurants, but also your cozy neighborhood spot you’d bring your family from out of town,” a spokesperson with USA TODAY said.
