Authorities capture escaped inmate in Lubbock Thursday night
The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office said on Thursday night they had successfully captured Benjamin Soliz, 36, an inmate who had stolen an Upton County Sheriff's Office pickup truck while being transported earlier in the day.
LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office said on Thursday night they had successfully captured Benjamin Soliz, 36, an inmate who had stolen an Upton County Sheriff's Office pickup truck while being transported earlier in the day.
LCSO said Soliz was taken into custody in the 6700 block of Cedar Avenue at 9:18 p.m.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said Soliz was being transported by Upton County when he used the vehicle to escape, the vehicle would then later crash near CR 7700 and CR 2830.
DPS said Soliz had then stolen a Can-am, a four-seater with a white spray tank in the back. Soliz was originally in custody at the Lubbock County Detention Center for theft and stalking, according to online jail records.
