Blizzard declared that customers will soon be able
"Game design The majority of the time, it's about trust. It is my belief WOW WOTLK Classic Gold that our players trust us implicitly. And you do not would want to undermine trust between the player and developer. Pay-to-win is a good way to do that. That's our position; we do not support pay-to-win games on World of Warcraft . That is not gonna happen."
Earlier this week, it was reported--though not confirmed that in the near future, World of Warcraft players might be able to shell out $60 to automatically level a character up to the current cap of 90. Before, players needed to put in a lot of time or more in order to achieve that level. Many fans saw this as an indication that the authenticity of the game was disappearing.
The players can also spend real dollars on virtual objects such as mounts and pets in the game. The microtransactions listed above are added to World of Warcraft 's existing $15/month subscription. Microtransactions seem likely be a major factor in the near future of Blizzard in light of the fact that the studio has recently established the "Microtransaction Strategist" business division.
The uptick in virtual items for sale in World of Warcraft does not appear to have driven players away. The fact is that World of Warcraft ended 2013 with 7.8 million active users and a rise of 200.000 from the quarter prior. Of course, this is down from a record-high of 12 million subscribers following the launch of Wrath of the Lich King in the year 2010. But growth more than 9 years into a product's lifecycle--especially a paid MMO--is nothing short of impressive.
