Sports briefs: Marin Catholic unable to rally in New Jersey
The Marin Catholic boys lacrosse team was playing catch-up for much of the game, but managed to push host Chatham before falling 10-7 in Thursday’s game in New Jersey. Harrison Tyler scored three goals, while Jake Holmes added two goals. Mack Berry and Tate Sedlachek each added a goal.
Holmes drove hard through the open field to the net for a goal late in the third quarter to cut Chatham’s lead to 8-6. Tyler followed with his third goal less than a minute later as he spun around to sling the ball into the net and bring the Wildcats (10-4) to within one score.
Chatham added a pair of goals in the fourth, and the Cougars played lockdown defense to secure the win over Marin Catholic.
The Wildcats’ swing through the Garden State continues Friday against Rumson-Fair Haven.
