Stabbing standoff in Oakley ends in arrest with Taser
"I hope the victim in this case is able to recover as much as possible and move on with a healthy life," said Oakley Police Chief Paul Beard.
Police in Oakley arrested a 30-year-old man on Saturday morning who is suspected of stabbing his father at their residence on Stony Hill Court.
Authorities responded to the scene at approximately 9:15 a.m. to find a victim with life-threatening injuries. After bringing him to safety, police tried getting in touch with the suspect, who was still inside the residence and not responding to requests by the authorities to surrender.
Police then entered the home and found the suspect inside a locked room armed with knives. The suspect was apprehended after authorities used a Taser to subdue him. He was booked into jail on attempted homicide and assault with a deadly weapon — and authorities suspect a mental health breakdown may have been responsible for the incident.
“I hope the victim in this case is able to recover as much as possible and move on with a healthy life,” said Oakley Police Chief Paul Beard. “I also call for appropriate accountability and treatment for the suspect so it becomes very unlikely he will harm anybody ever again.”
