California cop arrested for off-duty assault, stabbing at bar
Authorities say the 28-year LAPD veteran stabbed a man after an altercation began inside a bar bathroom.
An LAPD officer is behind bars after being arrested at an Upland bar for allegedly assaulting and stabbing another patron while off-duty, authorities say.
The Upland Police Department arrested Officer Arthur Contreras, a 28-year veteran of the department, on Wednesday, June 21. Contreras served in the Detective Support and Vice Division.
Upland PD responded to the 1600 block of North Mountain Avenue on Wednesday after a man called the police reporting he had been stabbed in the bathroom of a nearby bar. Officers arrived to find that Contreras allegedly had gotten into an argument with another patron, stabbed him with a knife, and left the scene.
The victim was treated for minor wounds at the scene, and Contreras was taken into custody.
Contreras was booked and later posted bail. He is out of custody, and according to the LAPD, he is on administrative leave.
