San Jose: Capitol Expressway crash leaves one person dead, one with life-threatening injuries
One man died and another suffered life-threatening injuries after a crash on Capitol Expressway early Thursday morning in South San Jose, police said.
SAN JOSE — A two-vehicle collision early Thursday on San Jose’s Capitol Expressway killed one person and left another with serious, life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
In a tweet posted Thursday morning, San Jose police said the crash was reported at 1:11 a.m. at intersection of Capitol Expressway and Snell Avenue, near Communications Hill. One man was pronounced dead at a local hospital, while another was fighting for his life after suffering from major injuries.
Units are currently at the intersection of Capitol Expressway and Snell Av investigating a fatal collision involving two vehicles.

Police did not release any additional details about the crash, including whether there were other people in the cars involved or what factors contributed to the collision.
As of 2:22 a.m., Capitol Expressway was closed between Snell and Vistapark Drive. Police asked drivers to avoid the area while investigations were conducted.
The traffic-related death became San Jose’s 28th of 2023. There were 39 at this point of last year.
