What is a GV70? The GV70 is a compact luxury crossover SUV manufactured in Montgomery, Alabama by Korean automaker Genesis, the luxury vehicle division of Hyundai. Introduced in 2021, this 5 seat SUV starts at $43,150 and is well equipped with a 300 HP turbo 4 cylinder engine and AWD all wheel drive as standard equipment.

This week Genesis sent me a 2023 Electrified GV70 AWD Prestige SUV to test drive and review. The base window sticker price for this Prestige model is $65,850. The options on the test SUV are: the special paint for $575 and the Prestige Package for $6,800. The MSRP manufactures suggested retail price, including the $1,125 destination charge, is: $74,350.
After adding in the state and local sales tax, plus the DMV and dealer fees, the out the door and in your garage total purchase price came to: $83,644. At near $84 Grand, this all electric compact SUV lands firmly in the luxury crossover class. And with all wheel drive, it has the ability to take you to just about anywhere in style and comfort, without using a drop of gasoline or emitting any harmful emissions into the environment.
The Electrified GV70 comes with an electronically controlled suspension system with road preview, 20″ alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a power hands free smart rear lift gate with auto open, a full leather interior, power front seats with 4 way lumbar supports, driver’s seat with power cushion extension, a power booster button on the steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats and carpeted floor mats.
The Prestige Package is like placing a cherry on top of your special Sundae ice cream treat. It adds in Nappa leather seating surfaces, a leatherette wrapped upper instrument panel, a microfiber suede headliner, a 12.3″ digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, a Lexicon premium audio system with 16 speakers, active noise control, heated 2nd row seats, a heated steering wheel and manual rear door window shades.
Multi Media and Technology include a premium navigation system with a 14.5″ HD high definition digital center stack screen, AM/FM/Satellite Sirius XM radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Genesis digital key, wireless phone charging, a digital fingerprint authentication system, Genesis’s wireless connected services, and an on-board V2L vehicle to load charging system.
And what is V2L? Vehicle To Load allows you to use the stored energy from an electric vehicles high-voltage battery to recharge an e-bike, power electrical camping equipment and run appliances, even when the vehicle is turned off. A V2L external adaptor is required to use this function, and it’s included for free with the GV70 EV.
