Train hits, kills man in East Oakland
The death is the second this week in the East Bay of someone hit by a train.
OAKLAND — A pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train Friday morning in the Fruitvale district, authorities said.
Authorities said the person killed was a man. His identity will be released after notification of his next of kin.
The collision happened about 8:45 a.m. Friday in the areas of 37th Avenue and San Leandro Street.
Police said initial reports were that the man was walking on the railroad tracks when he was hit by an Amtrak passenger train.
The person was pronounced dead at the scene.
None of the people on board the train were reported injured.

On Wednesday evening a woman died after she was hit by an Amtrak train while she was walking on the tracks near Harrison Street in Berkeley.
