Two killings outside 24-Hour Fitness may be connected, San Leandro police say
San Leandro police have identified two men fatally shot 10 days apart last month and said there is reason to believe the killings may be connected.
SAN LEANDRO — The names of two men found fatally shot 10 days apart in the same fitness center parking lot were released Tuesday by police who said they believe the killings may be connected.
To prevent compromising the investigation, police are not saying at this time why they believe there is a possible link in the September homicides.
Both men were found fatally shot inside vehicles, one on Sept. 14 and the other Sept. 24 in the parking lot of the 24-Hour Fitness at Bayfair Center, a large shopping complex on East 14th Street.
The man found about 11:50 a.m. Sept. 14 inside a gold Toyota Camry was identified as Sebahattin Ciftci, 46.
The man found about 10:40 a.m. Sept. 24 inside a gray Toyota Prius was identified as Emre Bozkurt, 21.
Authorities have not provided addresses for the men. Police said there were indications the men were living out of the vehicles.
Lt. Abe Teng said the motive for the killings is unknown and it has not been confirmed if the victims were specifically targeted.
No suspect or suspects have been identified yet, he said.
