49ers WR Deebo Samuel heads to locker room with shoulder injury vs. Browns
Trent Williams was hurt on the same drive but returned to the game.
Deebo Samuel injured his shoulder on the 49ers’ third drive of Sunday’s game in Cleveland and is questionable to return.
The 49ers’ do-it-all receiver went into the locker room after spending a few minutes in the injury tent on the San Francisco sideline while the Browns had the ball on their next drive late in the first quarter.
It was not clear how Samuel suffered the injury.
Left tackle Trent Williams also hurt his ankle on the drive, as a Browns defender rolled into his leg. He missed the end of that drive, but had the ankle taped up by trainers and came out alongside the 49ers offense after the Browns punted the ball away.
Samuel dealt with a rib injury earlier in the season, heading into the 49ers’ game two weeks ago against the Cardinals. He did play against Arizona, though he only touched the ball three times — all runs — for six yards.
Ray-Ray McCloud and Jauan Jennings were on the field for the 49ers’ next drive in Samuel’s absence, and Jaylon Moore took two snaps in Williams’ place during his brief absence from the game.
This is a developing story — we’ll update when more information is available.
