One dead in East Bay crash on Interstate 680
The fatal crash happened about 9:55 a.m. near the Pacheco Boulevard exit.
PACHECO — A person died early Tuesday in a two-vehicle freeway crash, the California Highway Patrol said.
The wreck happened on northbound Interstate 680, just south of the Pacheco Boulevard exit, about 9:35 a.m., according to CHP spokesperson Officer Adam Lane.
The crash blocked three lanes of the freeway. Around 9:55 a.m., the CHP issued a Sig Alert for severe traffic that lasted past 10:30 a.m.
Lane said the wreck did not appear to be caused by the fog that coated the region early Tuesday. The CHP was still determining how the crash unfolded at midday Tuesday.
It was unknown immediately if anybody else was injured.
Lane said the CHP was investigating and planned to release more information later Tuesday.
