Authorities identify person killed in Concord plane crash
The fatal incident happened Tuesday morning at Diamond Boulevard and Concord Avenue.
CONCORD – The person killed in a plane crash Tuesday in Concord has been identified as Jacek Romansk, 75, of Berkeley, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened around 11 a.m. at the intersection of Diamond Boulevard and Concord Avenue, near Buchanan Field Airport.
Romansk was the only person aboard the two-seater, single-engine Van’s RV-6, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District. No vehicles on the ground were involved in the crash.
The crash is the second to involve a small, homebuilt plane in recent weeks in the Bay Area. On Jan. 14, a Cozy Mark IV crashed into the ocean near Half Moon Bay, killing four people. A third body was recovered near the crash site earlier this week.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating both crashes.
