The Australian diamond miner has secured 100 million rand (about $7m) in development funding for the Lesotho mine from South Africa’s Industrial Development Corporation (IDC).

The massive iron ore mine was expected to produce 16 million tonnes this year, but that will now generate just 3 million tonnes of the steelmaking material.

The Magenta project is located in Sinaloa, northwestern Mexico, and consists of five claims totaling 2,274 hectares.

The Blackwater mine was once the most prolific mine in the Reefton Goldfield, producing 700,000 ounces of gold between 1908 and 1951.

The Canadian miner miner said the job cuts will be implemented in phases during the first quarter of 2019, adding they’ll be equally split between its Kansanshi and Sentinel mines.

The company will continue to explore the anomaly as well as look for gabborites containing cobalt.

The property hosts the Goldcrest and Grizzly Bear deposits.
