FORECAST DISCUSSION:
Good Thursday evening,
It has been a gray day today, with temps still slightly above normal still for this time of the year. Tonight, we will continue with mainly cloudy skies, but temps still almost 15 degrees above normal in the middle 50s with a light east breeze. Friday will start off mostly cloudy in the morning, with light showers approaching by late morning toward lunch.
Expect showers to increase on Friday and make for a wet finish to the day with highs still in the lower 60s as warm air surges north ahead of a cold front. The warmth will continue overnight Friday with rain expected and lows in the lower 50s. We will see temps creep back into the middle to upper 50s Saturday morning with winds increasing and rain expected.
The cold front will push through midday, with winds, rain, and falling temps for the second half of the day. It will be interesting to watch how long it takes the moisture associated with the trailing low to push out of our area. At this time, it appears it will be a bit slower, and should at least lead to some wet snow showers after midnight into Sunday and through mid-Sunday morning.
Sunday will by far be the nastiest day of the next 7. Once the wet snow showers taper off, we will see mostly cloudy skies, and blustery conditions with highs only in the lower 40s, and wind chills only climbing to the lower 30s. Winds will remain breezy Sunday night with clearing skies and lows in the upper 20s (close to normal). This will lead to some wind chills in the upper teens early Monday morning.
Monday should be our turnaround day with highs back slightly above normal with sunshine, and temps in the lower 50s. We will be mainly sunny on Tuesday with highs in the lower 60s. We will climb to the mid 60s on Wednesday with partly cloudy skies. Thursday clouds will increase, and so will winds, ahead of our next front, this time a weaker one, with highs in the upper 60s to near 70.
Sunday don't forget we "spring forward" an hour on the clocks. Sun times on Saturday are 6:52a/6:33p, and on Sunday we go to 7:50a/7:34p. Always a good time to test the smoke detectors in the house and change batteries for new ones!
