Man could receive 18 years to life in prison for 2022 Linden murder
COLUMBUS (WCMH) – The suspect in a fatal shooting of a woman in north Columbus has been found guilty of murder.
According to the Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s office, a jury found 33-year-old Dallas Lowery guilty of murder, among other charges, in the death of Heather Chapman, who died in her Linden home on Feb. 22, 2022.
Lowery, who was in Delaware County Jail on an unrelated charge, was arrested in May 2022. He had originally called police to say Chapman had committed suicide, though when questioned by police he refused to give a statement.
Court documents stated the gun used in Chapman’s death was not found at the scene and police alleged Lowery gave the gun to a friend to dispose of it. The gun was later found with the friend, and it matched a shell casing found at the scene.
On Monday a Franklin County Court of Common Pleas jury found Lowery guilty of murder, domestic violence, and tampering with evidence, all with firearm specifications, as well as one count of having weapons while under disability.
Sentencing for Lowery is scheduled for April 25 when he faces 18 years to life in prison.
