Albany Police make arrest in shooting incident
The Albany Police Department arrested an Albany man on Saturday morning following a shooting incident that occurred on Central Avenue.
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Albany Police Department arrested an Albany man on Saturday morning following a shooting incident that occurred on Central Avenue. Bernard Rosario, 43, is accused of shooting a 41-year-old victim early Saturday morning.
Charges
- Second-degree attempted murder
- Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon
Police officers responded to the area of Central Avenue and Lark Street around 2:25 a.m. for reports of a shooting where they reportedly found evidence of gunfire. Police say shortly after arriving on the scene they learned that a 41-year-old victim showed up at Albany Medical Center Hospital and was being treated for a gunshot wound to his leg.
Upon investigation, the police reported locating Rosario, who matched the suspect's description and took him into custody. It is alleged that Rosario had a loaded handgun.
Further investigation led the police to believe that the victim and the suspect were involved in a physical altercation before the suspect allegedly shot the victim. It is also alleged that Mario Gorostiza, 31, was involved in the incident.
Gorostiza was charged with third-degree assault. Rosario and Gorostiza are scheduled to be arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Saturday morning.
