There’s no question the Penguins’ first-round exit at the hands of the hated Flyers put a damper on what was for the most part a resoundingly upbeat season. However, on the plus side of the ledger, there are positive developments aplenty down on the farm.

The Penguins conducted their first bit of business in what promises to be an active and impactful offseason. And I must say, I like it.

With the Penguins’ season concluded and a paucity of fresh ideas in the ol’ brain pan, I thought I’d post a long overdue Ex-Penguins Update for the 2025-26 season.

Now that the dust is settling on one of the most entertaining and rewarding, yet ultimately disappointing seasons in recent memory, all eyes are on Penguins POHO/GM Kyle Dubas. More specifically, how he plans to navigate the upcoming offseason. One rife with roster-altering decisions.

To borrow from the 1970 tearjerker, Love Story, ironically involving a hockey player, “Where do I begin?”

In as thrilling and intense a hockey game as you’ll ever hope to witness, the Penguins beat back the persistent Flyers, 3-2, in Game 5 of their first-round clash before a rockin’ throng at PPG Paints Arena last night. In the process, taking another step in their quest for an improbable comeback.

Way back in the 1970s, the Bee Gees scored a huge hit with the song, Stayin’ Alive. One would almost expect the disco classic to become the Penguins’ anthem in the wake of their season-saving 4-2 victory over the Flyers in Game 4 last night.

The Penguins skate into tonight’s Game 4 fray at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philly facing a monumental uphill climb. Down 3-0 in their first-round series against the physical, opportunistic Flyers, the black-and-gold have no margin for error.

With all due respect to our faithful readers, I decided to forgo a standard recap of the Penguins’ 5-2 loss to the Flyers in Game 3, which nobody would want to read anyway, and share some loose-leaf thoughts instead.
