Zack Snyder's Justice League Poster Contest Gets Over 1,200 Submissions
The competition to create the best fan poster for Zack Snyder's Justice League has received over 1,200 entries. The contest is just the latest development in the ongoing saga of the Snyder Cut, Snyder's original version of the superhero ensemble prior to the movie's infamous reshoots. Though the very existence of the Snyder Cut was hotly debated after the film's theatrical release, its existence had become an irrefutable fact by late 2019 through a number of developments, including an image of the actual Snyder Cut released be Snyder himself.
Indeed, the latter months of 2019 proved to be a massive turning point for the ongoing grassroots campaign for the Snyder Cut's release. Jason Momoa has been an especially vocal advocate for it, and went on the record to confirm he has seen it. From that point, mainstream interest in the Snyder Cut steadily began to rise, with more and more of the movie's cast and crew making their support for it public, while a who's who of Hollywood A-listers and other public figures joined the chorus on the movie's two-year anniversary.
Per the contest's official Twitter, the turn out for it has been nothing short of breathtaking, with over 1,200 submissions from almost 700 people all over the world. With entries having been accepted until February 7th, the winner will be selected by Snyder himself, which will be determined by, as Snyder puts it, "the artist that best captures the spirit of the movie." Furthermore, the winner will receive a piece of Justice League memorabilia from Snyder himself. Check out the post on the competition below.
As can be seen from the multilingual message below the official statement, the competition has proven to be an international and multicultural event attracting entries from across the globe. A quick glance at the submissions publicly displayed by the competition's social media pages shows many undeniably impressive entries. Indeed, the event even received an entry from well-known artist BossLogic, which included Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, and a black-suited Superman.
Those points play into what Snyder has revealed about his version of the movie on social media. Among the biggest bombs he has dropped to date was the news that General Swanwick, played by Harry Lennix, was Martian Manhunter in human form. Snyder also released an image of the Man of Steel in his famed post-resurrection black suit, emphasizing it as the attire donned by Superman in his version of Justice League. Additionally, Snyder released a shirt and hoodie through Ink to the People that re-branded his cut as "Zack Snyder's Justice League," featuring the emblems of the six heroes that make up the Justice League in the film, with the addition of the Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter emblems. This would effectively solidify the presence of the latter in his version of the movie, while alluding to some kind of appearance by the former.
With so many submissions into the contest, it will truly be interesting to see which one Snyder selects as the best that embodies his version of Justice League. What happens next in the campaign for Snyder's version of the movie is certainly a thought-provoking question at this point. However, considering where it stands right now (and with Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot supporting its release), the rising hype for Snyder's Justice League most assuredly isn't anywhere near dying down.
