Knives Out 2 Casts Kate Hudson | Screen Rant
Kate Hudson joins the cast of Knives Out 2. Knives Out, directed by Rian Johnson, premiered in theaters in 2019 and grossed over $331 million in box offices worldwide. The film starred big names such as Daniel Craig, Jamie Lee Curtis, the late Christopher Plummer, and Captain America himself, Chris Evans. It follows a masterful detective (Craig) as he investigates the murder of a family patriarch, who has died at the hands of one of his dysfunctional family members. The film received a handful of Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations.
According to THR, Kate Hudson will be joining the cast of the franchise's sequel, along with other franchise newcomers, like Kathryn Hahn (WandaVision), Leslie Odom, Jr. (Hamilton), and Dave Bautista (Guardians Of The Galaxy). Knives Out 2 will see the return of Craig as he uncovers another murder among a stacked ensemble cast. Plot details have yet to be released, but the film is scheduled to shoot in Greece this summer and to release in 2022. The Knives Out franchise has been taken over from MRC and Lionsgate by Netflix due to a massive production deal that will require Craig to star in future sequels and open the door for Netflix to create franchise spin-offs.
While the sequel film's new ensemble cast already has audiences excited, Hudson's recent casting is sure to entice those who enjoyed the first film. Hudson's commanding screen presence and versatility in different acting styles will allow her to perfectly portray a murder suspect. Additionally, Hudson's dry humor will suit the film's essence well, as the first Knives Out tactfully walked the line between dark, modernized humor and old-school mystery. Hudson will be an excellent source of star power for the sequel film, especially after her Golden Globe nomination for her role in the controversial Music, directed by pop artist, Sia. Knives Out 2 will have fans on the edge of their seats when it premieres next year.
