Loki Trailer Shows More of the God of Mischief's Mission for the TVA
The latest trailer for Loki teases more of his mission for the TVA and that time will be an important factor in the story. It has been a month since the release of an entry in the MCU after The Falcon and the Winter Soldier wrapped and Black Widow is not set to release until July. Loki, debuting on June 9, will be the next installment in the MCU and it can't get here soon enough.
Loki will follow the version of the character who escaped with the Tesseract at the end of Avengers: Endgame creating a branched timeline variant. Loki is captured by TVA, or Time Variance Authority, an organization responsible for keeping the timeline in check, who recruit him to clean up the mess he has made. Joining Loki are Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) and Judge Ravonna Lexus Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), who in the comics has ties to Kang the Conqueror. With concepts of time and the multiverse set to play a major factor in upcoming projects like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and What If...?, Loki could be setting up some major beats with ramifications for the entire MCU.
As June 9 draws closer, Marvel has released a new trailer for the series that shows a little more of Loki's mission for the TVA. The teaser, titled 'Clock', highlights that the clock is ticking for Loki and the rest of the TVA to get the job done. Loki is spotlighted in various action scenes including ones with his iconic daggers. Watch the latest Loki trailer, below:
The trailer features plenty of action from the series, including a scene of Loki jumping out of a plane and being pulled in by the Bifrost. There are plenty of callbacks to previous films with familiar locations like the Asgardian throne room and Loki's line from The Avengers about 'being burdened with glorious purpose'. The trailer also shows off another look at President Loki, but the identity of the cloaked figure seen in this and earlier trailer remains a mystery. Could it possibly be yet another incarnation of Loki?
2021 marks the 10-year anniversary of the release of the first Thor film and when audiences were first introduced to Loki. Since then, the character has gone on quite a journey from being the main villain in The Avengers, to a redemptive arc throughout Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok, before finally making a heroic last stand in Avengers: Infinity War. Still, it's a journey that's largely been told in respect to how Loki relates to Thor. Now, though, Loki has the chance to step out from his brother's shadow with a series that will finally give the character the spotlight he's always wanted.
