Ni no Kuni Earned $100 Million Faster Than Pokémon GO or Genshin Impact
Market intelligence website Sensor Tower has revealed that Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds accumulated a revenue of $100 million faster than Genshin Impact or Pokémon GO. A mobile title available on the App Store and Google Play, Netmarble's Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds launched on June 10 in Japan and East Asia, with a global release slated for early 2022.
Series creator Level-5 acts as the publisher for Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, which originally debuted on the world stage in late 2019 as G-Star. Fans of the Studio Ghibli-inspired franchise finally received a first look at the new title in a Tokyo Game Show trailer in September 2020. It's quite the departure from mainline series that appears on consoles and PC, too. Cross Worlds drops players into the role of a virtual reality game beta tester, one who quickly finds themselves caught in the strangest of circumstances. Evidently, millions of players have already become enamored with the Ni no Kuni's latest mobile adventure.
According to data shared by Sensor Tower, Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds managed to gross an estimated $101.3 million after only 11 days on the market. This is an incredibly impressive feat, considering that it took Pokémon GO 12 days to hit the $100 million-earned milestone. Meanwhile, miHoYo's ever-popular Genshin Impact needed 13 days to reach $100 million in revenue, Sensor Tower noted in its report. Japan played an integral part in Cross Worlds' first 11 days of availability, accounting for $45.6 million in terms of player spending. South Korea made up approximately 35 percent of user spending, with the Taiwanese market providing 15.7 percent of Cross Worlds' early earnings.
Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is clearly off to an excellent start, securing itself a place as the second highest-grossing mobile title in the world with only two weeks under its belt. And it's second only to Tencent's Honor of Kings, which accumulated $102.3 million during the same 11-day period.
Level-5 won't only rake in Ni no Kuni-related dough thanks to Cross Worlds this year, either. This coming September will also see Level-5 and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment bring No no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom to the Nintendo Switch, roughly three years after the sequel hit PC and PS4 platforms.
