When 90 Day Fiancé first aired on TLC, the international romance show took a realistic look at four couples. The premise revolved around foreign fiancés and fiancées joining their American partners in the USA on K-1 fiancé visas, which granted them 90 days to marry. The show has since expanded into a sprawling franchise that has been accused of moving away from realism to focus on potentially contrived drama, salacious fighting, life after marriage, divorce, and dating. The worst season ranks at number 8 and it's 90 Day Fiancé season 8. The most recent season got plenty of critical responses. Loyal viewers complained that the show had moved too far away from its original premise. Viewers felt that the season was focused on drama that seemed scripted, rather than authentic relationships. Among the weakest plotlines was the return of Natalie Mordovtseva and Mike Youngquist, who aired nothing but repetitive drama. Meanwhile, Andrew Kenton and Amira Lollysa were a disastrous couple who never even met up on air before their split. During this season, Stephanie Davison shocked audiences by switching from her fiancé Ryan Carr to his cousin Harris. The season 8 drama came across as boring and clunky, to the frustration of franchise fans.
At number seven in the rankings, we have 90 Day Fiancé season 7. The show was also veering off course with season 7, and viewers believed that 90 Day Fiancé was becoming more dramatic and less relatable. However, some genuine couples salvaged the season, including Juliana Custodio and Michael Jessen. The couple went from being suspicious to beloved. Also, sweetheart couple Anna Campisi and Mursel Mistanoglu warmed viewers' hearts. Unfortunately, season 7 also aired the bad behavior of Angela Deem and another franchise villain, Tania Maduro. The season also aired the start of Mike and Natalie’s drama. Overall, the drama was not that entertaining, compared to other seasons. As well, some cast members were not very likable.
At number six in the rankings, we have 90 Day Fiancé season 1. While the original season was not the one that hooked most audiences, it does earn points for being the most authentic. Kirlyam Cox stood out as a highlight thanks to her marriage to Alan Cox. Viewers immediately took to the kindhearted Brazilian beauty. Couples Mike and Aziza Eloshway and Louis and Aya Gattone also showcased authentic relationships that were devoid of the forced drama that was prevalent in later seasons. However, Paola and Russ Mayfield were a polarizing albeit memorable couple. Many audiences disliked the couple’s storyline and some doubted the duo's connection, especially since Paola urged Russ to leave his high-paying job to follow her to Miami.
At number five, we have 90 Day Fiancé season 3. While it's not a bad season, it loses points for having fewer memorable plotlines than other seasons. It's basically in the middle of the pack. The season is favored for introducing several sweet and authentic couples, including Kyle and Noon Huckabee, Loren Goldstone and Alexei Brovarnik, and Melanie Bowers and Devar Walters. However, it also featured one of the most uncomfortable franchise couples of all time, Mark and Nikki Huckabee. Viewers were disturbed that Mark chose to date a teenager who was 39 years younger than him and older than all four of his adult children. Mark treated Nikki as though she was his child, which viewers found deeply unsettling.
At number four, we have 90 Day Fiancé season 6. This season was memorable to many thanks to the powerhouse Brazilian bombshell Larissa Lima. She went to war with the family of her now ex-husband Colt Johnson. Franchise regulars Kalani Faagata and Asuelu Pulaa also debuted, and there was messy drama between Ashley Martson and Jay Smith. The season might have made the top three if it weren’t for Leida Margaretha and Eric Rosenbrook. Viewers were horrified when Leida kicked Eric’s teenage daughter out of their home and Eric backed his new partner's decision. Leida has been cemented as a massive franchise villain. Few fans want to see her on TV again.
At number 3, we have 90 Day Fiancé season 5. It started the memorable saga of Nicole Nafziger and Azan Tefou, which was noteworthy for its excessive drama and hilarious quotes. Franchise staples, such as David Toborowsky and Annie Suwan, Libby Potthast and Andrei Castravet, and Molly Hopkins were also introduced during season 5. Though Molly’s ex-husband Luis Mendez was widely disliked, the couple aired memorable arguments that led to Molly becoming a franchise regular known for her humorous commentary. Overall, the season was full of plenty of drama and international romance stories. Viewers were invested in the storylines.
At number two, we have 90 Day Fiancé season 4. Fans have deemed the season 4 cast to be the best of the bunch. The key couple for many viewers is Anfisa Arkhipchenko and Jorge Nava, who arguably earn the title of the most explosive franchise couple of all time. However, it also introduced the start of the train wreck that was Nicole and Azan, as well as franchise staples Chantel Everett and Pedro Jimeno. Chantel and Pedro went on to star in The Family Chantel. Few can forget Anfisa ordering Jorge to fetch her red makeup bag or Chantel’s parents accusing Pedro of “harvesting the American dollar” by marrying their daughter. Season 4 was packed with drama in all of the best ways. Audiences were hooked on following the messy relationships.
At number one, we have 90 Day Fiancé season 2. When it comes to the best season of all time, it is a very, very close call. Many fans would argue that season 4 has the most impressive array of memorable franchise personalities. However, season 2 was the season that introduced audiences to Danielle Mullins and Mohammed Jbali. They had a chaotic rollercoaster of a relationship that many consider the most dramatic in the franchise. The older American Danielle had an all-out bonkers relationship with her now-ex-husband. It was bizarre yet genuine, and it captivated audiences. Uncovering the depth of Danielle and Mohamed’s deception made for prime content from the hit TLC franchise. Season 2 also featured one of the sweetest and most genuine couples in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise, Danny and Amy Frishmuth.
