Re: Use of 'City' and 'United'

Am I the only person that gets annoyed by use of 'City' and 'United' to refer to the Manchester clubs?
It's as if they're the only clubs that use those words in their name. People don't seem to realise that by referring to Manchester United as 'United', they're implying that there is only one 'United'. Or, at least, only one worth mentioning. The best 'United'.
There's a bloke at work who supports Stoke and even he refers to Man City as 'City' - YOUR OWN CLUB IS ALSO 'CITY'!!!!
And when the media refer to them with use of only one word, it does my head in. Particularly the 'impartial' BBC!!
In the paper, it might say "City to bid £xxx for Juventus striker" - am I supposed to assume that it's Man City?
Someone on here said that someone in his family supports Blues and 'United' - is that Peterborough? Colchester?
It's actually disrespectful to other clubs that use 'City' and 'United'.
I anticipate responses along the lines of "you need to get out more" and it's a risk I'm prepared to take,as I'm curious!!

Well said, does my head in too.
Just a snapshot of how the media and the country have become obsessed with the top teams.
