We were on a good cup run with crowds of 35k+. Drawn at home it was an all ticket match. We lived in Oxford then but Dad managed to get two of the 52, 500 tickets. We drove up me driving at 17 and a half as Dad didn't drive, had sandwiches and coffee in the Vauxhall Victor estate and then onto the Kop. Looks like that was the third year (out of five) that there was a third/fourth play-off match for the losing semi finalists. We beat Stoke at St Andrews on pens - the first time that was used to settle a match in the FA Cup.

With a visit to Preston to follow, coupled with our inability to win football matches all told, I’ll have a bet with you that we don’t!
